A teacher, Laurel Niedospial, has highlighted certain things parents should keep in mind when dropping off their children on their first day back to school. The first day at school is always something special. Asides taking photographs, preparing special breakfasts and snuggling your kids, there are other things parents can do to prepare their kids for the first day.

Niedospial explained that by virtue of being a teacher, there are particular things she silently hopes the parents on their kids’ first day back to school. Doing things will ensure that the first day and even the entire year start off on a good note.
1. Be Punctual
You need to strive to arrive the school early because the first day back to school can be quite overwhelming, confusing and also crowded. Give room for extra time so you can find the appropriate classrooms or get more time to give your kids a big goodbye hug.
2. Spend Some Minutes With Your Kids
Before you turn back and leave, make sure you check with your children one last time. It may appear that they are eager to go and meet their friends on the first day but hugging them before you leave can greatly make the child feel loved. It also helps the child ready for the new adventure.
3. Serve A Nutritious And Special Breakfast
There is truth in what doctors say that morning meals are the most important. Making sure that your kids have a nutritious breakfast on their first day and even subsequent days will ensure that they do not feel hungry, and it will increase their focus all through their day at school.
4. Check Their Backpacks Again and Again
You do not want your kids starting their first day at school without their summer assignment or their special lunch. Thus, take your time before leaving home to check their backpacks to ensure that they are not missing or forgetting anything. Being with all they need makes them feel confident on the first day, a kind of energy that will be easy for them to imbibe all through the school year.

5. Return All Forms
The efficiency of the school setting will be considerably maximized if all students submitted the requested forms right on time. Thus, the physicals, healthcare slips, emergency contact forms, and updated IEPS all need to be submitted to the support staff at your children’s school without delay.
6. Do Not Overwhelm The Teachers
The first day of the school isn’t the appropriate time for you to meet the teacher just because you want to raise a series of questions and concerns or even give unsolicited advice. On that first day, you can simply introduce yourself as you drop off your kid. If there are any other major issues you would like to discuss, send the teacher an email at a later time.
7. Take Your Leave
There is no doubt that saying your goodbye can be very hard even if you are just parting from the kids for a couple of hours. As soon as you hug your kids and share your love with them, take your leave. Waiting back in a corner just to observe can make it difficult for the kids to detach and it will also make it more difficult for the teachers to efficiently play their part.
8. Take Out Time For Yourself
The odds are high that you also had a long summer and dropping your kids at school can be a bit emotional for you. After you drop them at school, take a little break even if it’s just for a morning yoga session or just grabbing one more cup of coffee. Enjoy the moment and try not to be anxious or disturbed. Trust that the teachers are going to do a good job in teaching, nurturing and protecting your kids.
