Reality stars are known to be very controversial, especially those who have spent most of their lives having their lives broadcasted on the television. People would want to know everything about them, and one particular reality star have managed to put her fame into use and actually turned her fans into her very own customers for her fast growing business. Who would have thought that reality star Kylie Jenner, who is from the Keeping Up with the Kardashians, is now the world’s youngest female billionaire, who made her own empire.
Billionaire at 21
Jenner became the youngest self-made billionaire in the world according to Forbes, because of how much success her cosmetics line actually reached. All of the success of her business actually started with a controversy back in 2015, when rumors spread that she actually had a lip augmentation. She basically grew up having cameras follow her around all the time, because of her family’s reality show the Keeping Up with the Kardashians. It is in one of the episodes of the show that she actually admitted she did get her lips augmented.
Her lip fillers then took over the internet by storm since this has then started a challenge known as the Kylie Jenner Challenge, wherein people got a shot glass, then started to suck the air out and it would make their lips fuller. In a statement, Jenner said she does not encourage her fans, especially young girls to be content with how they look, and that she is not encouraging them to look like her.
Then again, she took this craze as a major opportunity to launch her very own lipstick line, since people have already been talking about her lips anyways. She then launched her Kylie Lip Kits and it sold more than half a million pieces in just a short amount of time.
In just a matter of three short years, her company’s value is now at $900 million. What most people love about it is that her products are cruelty-free since they don’t use animal testing so it is vegan-friendly. Her company now features more than just lip kits, they have eyeshadow palettes, blush, contour, and even concealers. Kylie also collaborated with her own mother, Kris Jenner, and sisters Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney. Her most recent collaboration is with her best friend Jordyn.
Despite all the success of her company, they have also faced a couple of controversies with some of their products. Just like how much backlash it got when they released their makeup brushes. It was advertised as luxurious, YouTube makeup gurus weren’t exactly very subtle when they were reviewing the said brushes.
It was dubbed as low quality and overpriced for 16 brushes at $360, especially its packaging that was compared to a usual and unsanitary and nothing but the luxurious packaging. Her concealer line also faced some controversy after it was claimed that it seems they just copied the concealers from Fenty Beauty, which is owned by Rihanna.
Newest Skincare Line
Then again, it would seem that Kylie thinks it is not enough to have a $900-million-dollar company because there have been rumors that she is trying to get into the skincare department. It was reported by TrademarkNinja that Kylie is actually applying for the trademark “Kylie Skin by Kylie Jenner” as well as just “Kylie Skin” itself. The trademark was said to be applied for non medicated skin preparation such as moisturizers, lotions, serums, oils, powders, scrubs, and more.
Not anyone from Kylie’s family or even Kylie herself said anything about this, but some rumors said that it might be the newest venture that she may release at the end of the year or early next year. The reality star turned businesswoman has been posting a lot of photos of herself on Instagram with a clear face and sometimes with no makeup at all. This is one of the reasons why more and more people are convinced that she actually is releasing a skincare line soon.
People have been tweeting about it, and leaving comments on her pictures asking what helps her skin look so radiant and glowing, and it is somewhat an early advertisement for her up and coming skin care line.
