Tinder Survey
Romantic relationships are considered goals people should work towards having for a lot of reasons, but that doesn’t change the fact that staying single actually has its own benefits. Severalyoung millennials have not only embraced the single status, a study has found that a good number of them are also deliberately choosing to remain single.
Tinder recently conducted a survey on over one thousand single millennials who are between the ages of eighteen and twenty five concerning their views when it comes to dating and also being single. The results of the survey show that there is a change in how millennials perceive relationships. A high percentage of the respondents noted that they felt being single was of benefit to them and added that they consciously chose to remain single for a lengthy duration.
It isn’t hard to point out why a lot of them might elect to remain single. Logan Cohen, said that a healthy relationship is definitely beautiful, but a lot of benefits also accompany staying single. Cohen explained that it is easier for a single person’s immediate environment to serve as a reflection of their definite needs in a way considered to be more consistent than it would be for a person who has a partner.
In addition, those who are single have more time on their hands for the development of their platonic network and also professional growth. They also get more time for their personal growth without the distraction that comes with having a partner.
Benefits Of Remaining Single
Staying single sure has several benefits. An interesting revelation by the study is that women probably embrace the single status than their male counterparts.
A large percentage of those singles respondents stated that their decision to remain single goes beyond their love lives. Specifically, 81 percent stated that remaining single had more benefits than just its impact on love lives.
They mentioned other benefits such as affording them additional time for friends, wellness, and work. The survey revealed that 72% of those who remained single consciously took a break from being in a relationship. 62 percent of them said they did it for prioritization of their needs and forty-seven percent of them took out time for focusing on their study.
- Forty percent of the single respondents said they would not settle to be with the wrong person only because they want to be in a long-term relationship. Also even when they find the thought of being a relationship appealing, people always still want to be in the relationship for reasons that are right. Over half of the young female respondents stated that remaining single gave them some sort of independence.
Stereotypical Views
The society most times paint the men as people who are happy with their single status while the women are stereotypically considered as people who are desperate to have a partner. The survey revealed that twenty-five percent of women also felt empowered as single individuals as compared to just seventeen percent males.
Sixty-one percent of the single women stated that they had worries about settling down for reasons that are wrong, while just 46% of the single men gave that same response.
Settled that the survey was conducted on single respondents, but fifty-five percent of the respondents said they considered single people to be more fun and also open to novel experiences than people who were in a relationship.
A choice to remain single or to date, someone is quite personal and is likely going to take a different turn from one person to the other. It is, however, exciting to see that millennials, particularly young women are resisting the pressure to settle down with someone and are rather choosing to remain single and embracing that status.
